Army Emblem

William "Bill" Olden, Jr., son of the late William and Sarah (Krapf) Olden of Staten Island, NY, was born on July 18, 1938. Having lost his mother at an early age, Bill was raised by his Uncle Frederick and Aunt Florence (Krapf) Schnarr. He attended the NY public schools. Shortly after graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Fort Lee, VA. He was honorably discharged on July 31, 1962.

On July 23, 1960, he married Anne Whitten and relocated to her hometown of Chelsea, MA. He was a bank teller at Shawmut Bank, and later worked at the Watson Mailing Company in Everett. In 1992, he worked as a clerk at the MA Department of Employment and Training, now known as the Department of Unemployment Assistance, until he retired in 2002.

Bill was an avid NY Yankees fan and had an uncanny ability to recall baseball statistics and facts, especially from the 1950s era.

Devoted husband of the late Anne (Whitten). Lovingly survived by his four daughters, Susan Touplikiotis and her husband Antonios, Sally French and her companion Matthew Williams, Cathy Menzies and her husband Peter and Nancy Hulse and her husband Stephen. Cherished grandfather of Matthew Lewis, Deborah French, Peter and Caitlin Menzies, and Kayla Hulse.
