TIERNEY, Thomas P., Sr.- Of Malden, formerly of Somerville, June 19th. Devoted husband of Mary Ann (Madden). Beloved father of Jean Tierney of New Hampshire, Thomas P. Tierney, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado, John Tierney of Las Vegas, Nevada, Denise Lefebvre and her husband Michael of San Diego, California and Richard Tierney and his wife Christine of Malden. Brother of Barbara Glazebrook of Revere, Richard Tierney of Arlington and the late Mary Kisich and John Tierney. Cherished grandfather of Dennis Herra of New Hampshire, Wendy Tierney and Cindy Tierney both of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Richard J. Tierney, Jr. and Thomas Tierney both of Malden and the late Charles Herra. Also lovingly survived by 3 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street, (Maplewood Square) MALDEN on Thursday, June 23rd at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 10 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Carroll Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6-9 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his name may be made to Mystic Valley Basketball, 140 Malden Street, Malden, MA 02148.
Born in Boston and a resident of Somerville until moving to Malden 26 years ago, Thomas passed away unexpecteedly at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center late Sunday morning. For 50 years until his retirement in 2004, Thomas worked for U.S. Fastener Company in Boston. Active in Youth Programs, the Somerville Babe Ruth for over 25 years, Somerville Youth Hockey and Somerville Little League as well as the Mystic Valley Basketball.
