LONGO, Robert W. "Rob"- Chelsea Police Dept., of Saugus, formerly of Chelsea, unexpectedly, May 19th. Devoted son of the late Angela Jestings. Lovingly survived by his K-9 Ozzie, his beloved sister Rosemary Strassburger and her husband Manuel of Chelsea. Rob was the devoted and loving uncle and father like figure to George Strassburger and his wife Kelly of East Boston and David Strassburger of Chelsea. Loving companion of Joanne Cunneen and her children, Kevin, Kelly and Keith Cunneen. He also leaves behind his brother Charles Jestings, his wife Nancy of Pepperell and nieces Tracie and Samantha. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Tuesday, May 24th at 11:30 AM. Visitation with the family prior to the service beginning at 9:30 AM. Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Born in Revere and a longtime Chelsea resident until moving to Saugus 7 years ago, Rob passed away suddenly Thursday morning at the age of 49. A graduate of Northeast Regional Vocational High School, he attended Curry College where he was bestowed a bachelor degree in Criminal Justice. A member of the Chelsea Police Department Motorcycle Unit with the control sign of Tango 11, Bobby, as he was known on the force leaves behind his many friends on the force.
