NEWBERRY, Robert M., Captain Chelsea Fire Department, retired, of Chelsea, January 6th. Devoted husband of Emma E. (Harvey) Newberry of Chelsea and former husband of Marcia (Morrison) Newberry of Revere. Beloved father of Vicki Newberry Sullivan and her husband Dan of Saugus, Debora Newberry of Revere, Michael Dussourd of Quincy and his step-son, William Follett of Chelsea. Loving brother of Alfred Newberry of Holbrook, Richard Newberry of Peabody, Leonard Newberry of Florida, Annie Citroni of Saugus and the late Lorraine Kelly. Cherished grandfather of Michael Dussourd, Jr. Also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Thursday, January 12th from 4-8 PM with a Prayer Service being held at 7:30 PM. Committal Services are private.
A lifelong member of the Chelsea community, Robert, at 77 years of age, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, shortly after suffering a cardiac event on the way to a doctors appointment. He joined the Chelsea Fire Department in 1972 and retired with the rank of Captain in 1993. A United States Air Force Veteran, he was also a member of the Cary Square Associates and the Boston Sea Rovers. After retirement, he worked for Square Cab and was associated with JC Fence Co. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund.
