MacDONALD, Mary Lee (Buchanan)- Of Malden and Largo, Florida, November 23rd. Devoted wife of James A. MacDonald with whom she would have celebrated her 50th anniversary this coming June. Beloved mother of Jacqueline Yawnick and her husband Michael of Wakefield and James T. MacDonald of Largo, FL. Sister of the late Paul Buchanan. Cherished grandmother of Joseph Perullo of Wakefield. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street, (Maplewood Square) Malden on Saturday, December 6th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem St., Malden at 10 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Carroll Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 PM. Committal Services are private. Expressions of sympathy in Mary's name may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.
Born and residing in Malden for most of her life, Mary passed away at Epoch of Melrose last Sunday afternoon at the age of 70. A certified nursing assistant, at the beginging of her career she offered private home care and for a short time worked at the Dexter House here in Malden. For the next 30 years she was employeed at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett until her retirement in 2007. During her years at the Whidden she was instrumental in helping to unionize the nurses aides at that facility. Shortly after retirement, Mary and James retired to Largo, Florida where they remained until her illness made her return back home for treatment. A lover of the ocean and dogs, in her spare time she was an avid shopper.
