O'BRIEN, John F. "Jack"- Of Weymouth, died peacefully at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham on February 7th. Devoted husband of the late Anne E. (Long). Beloved father of Patricia Smith and her husband Tom of Bordentown, NJ, Daniel O'Brien and his wife Paula of Marshfield and Noreen Scarpitto and her husband Michael of Reading. Long time companion of Ursula O'Neill. Dear brother of the late Louise McGray, James and Edward O'Brien. Cherished grandfather of Shaune, Matthew, Jared, Dustin, Griffin and Kellen and great grandfather of Kieran and Riley. Jack was born in East Boston and then lived for many years in Hyde Park and Quincy. He was a veteran of WW II, 82nd Airborne Division. Jack was also a 31 year veteran of the Boston Police Deptartment, Mobile Operations Motorcycle Unit. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards and watching his local sports teams. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street, (Maplewood Square) MALDEN on Thursday, February 12th at 11 AM. Visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that donations be made in his name to The Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or to Norwell VNA-Pat Roche Hospice Home, 86 Turkey Hill Lane, Hingham, MA 02043.
