ESPARZA- Of Chelsea, February 15th, Beatrice (DeCosta). Devoted wife of the late Mack Esparza. Beloved mother of Mary Santoro of Boxford, George Esparza of Boston, Sandra Colello and her husband Ralph of Lynnfield, Rebecca Swope of Chelsea and Roberta Mavilia of Newburyport. Sister of the late Betty Netto, James, George and Henry DeCosta. Cherished grandmother of Billy and Anthony Santoro, Rochelle Nazarian, Dawn Soriano, Christina Ryan, Lisa Swope-Shanafelt, Alison Mavilia, Michael Mavilia, Mary Stingley, Anna Priest, Nancy Hensley, Joseph and Anthony Esparza, Kelly King and Madga Hermensen. Great grandmother of Gina, Angela and Stephen Butler, Anthony, Ava and Dominic Shanafelt, Ani, Adara, Anthony, Ara and Alex Nazarian, Danielle Benedetto, Miranda and Elizabeth Soriano, Dylan and Bradley Ryan, Dr. Lorena Santoro and Veronica Santoro. Also lovingly survived by great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Sunday, February 22nd from 2-4 PM. Services will conclude with interment on Monday, February 23rd at St. Columba's Cemetery, Middletown, Rhode Island.
Born in New Bedford over a 100 years ago, Beatrice, a Gold Star wife, passed away at home Sunday morning. A devoted wife and homemaker, in 1956 she with her family made thier way to Chelsea and became active in many of the area clubs and causes, the DAV Aux., VFW, St. Rose Woman's as well as Senior Club, the Tammy Club, OLA Senior Club, past Chaplan of the Fleet Reserve Aux. and Secretary of the Chelsea Council on Aging.
