BRUCE, Barbara L (Clark)- Of Chelsea, October 26th. Devoted wife of the late Robert H. Bruce, Jr. Beloved mother of Robert H. Bruce, III of Andover and Susan M. Bruce-McGrath and her husband John F. of Methuen. Daughter of the late Frank Harry Clark and Frances (Lawlor) Burke and step daughter of the late Charles Burke. Dear sister of Frank Clark and his late wife Elizabeth of Norwood, Loretta Carter and her husband William of Quincy, Eugene Clark and his wife Shirley of Foxboro and the late Patricia Dello Russo and her survivng husband Edward of FL and the late John Clark.Cherished grandmother of Christopher, Robert IV, Derek and Stephanie. Also lovingly survived by her cousins, Joan Lyons and Alice Hanson as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Friday, October 30th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Rose Church, 600 Broadway, Chelsea at 10 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Smith Funeral Home on Thursday from 3-7 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born in Boston, and spending her first 24 years in Roxbury, Barbara at 79 years of age, passed away at the Hancock Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Quincy where she was receiving supportive care as her illness progressed. A graduate of Roxbury Memorial School for Girls, she went on to attain an Associates Degree from Boston Business School and after graduation went to work for the Garland Knitting Mills as Executive Secretary.

After her marriage to Robert and settling in Chelsea, she became very active in her Parish of St. Rose. For over 34 years and until her retirement in 2003, she worked as a teacher and secretary at St. Rose School. A member and former President of the St. Rose Woman's Club, she was also active in the choir as well was a member of the local chapter of the American Red Cross. Devoted to her family, she loved Broadway Shows, playing piano, reading books and was a huge Red Sox Fan.

A special recognition to the staff at the Alzheimer's Unit 4 East at Hancock Park for their compassion and loving care.
