My sincere condolences to Captain Folan's family and friends.
I had the honor and privilege of working for Captain Folan on occasion, as a rookie firefighter in the late seventies. He was an "Old School" Fire Captain who led by example, and cared for his men. He, along with many of his generation, were responsible for the Malden Fire Department's much deserved
reputation as being one of the best "interior structural" departments on the North Shore.
Rest In Peace, Brother

Dear Family,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you at this difficult time. We at St. Matthew's have grown to love your dad thru our many visits to Windham Terrace and by his worshipping with us at the 9:30 mass. He always had something funny to say and gave all the women kisses! Your dad was a very spiritual man and loved receiving the Eucharist. His presence will be missed by all of us. He always included the military and the firemen in his prayer petitions as well as his children and grandchildren. How he loved being with you on holidays and outings. One day I visited him while he was having lunch with some old friends. They razed him and he gave it right back, telling them that I was his new girlfriend. Now he is at peace and dancing in heaven while probably raising a glass for everyone to join him at cocktail hour!
